Seth Rollins’ Opening Line When Meeting WWE Superstar Becky Lynch Was…?

Seth Rollins spent the week comfortably running Rich's show. Then he had to interview his own wife, and the composure went out the window.

"That's why I'm a little bit nervous," Rollins said as the wide shot came up, describing himself as a cartoon with a heart leaping out of his chest. Becky Lynch was in studio, and this was the first time the two of them had ever done this publicly.

Which is funny, because an interview is basically how it started.

The setting was an arena before Raw, either Knoxville or Atlanta, and neither of them can agree on which. Rollins was in his Shield gear, carrying a plate of food he was determined not to spill, and by his own description he was extremely orange. "My hair was so orange, my fake tan was so orange," he said, before adding, without prompting, "But I was pretty jacked."

His opening line has not aged into poetry. "Hey, what's your deal?"

Lynch gave him the full deal. Rollins estimated it ran 45 minutes while he stood there eating. He was not single at the time and says the whole thing was banter, though he owns the rest of it plainly. "I was attracted. I was attracted. Come on."

When the same question came back at Lynch, the answer was immediate. "Uh, no."

The studio needed a moment to recover from that.

What followed was four or five years of friendship before anything shifted. Concerts, hanging out, a surf trip in Hawaii. That trip produced a detail neither noticed for years: a photo of them surfing in Hawaii dated June 29, 2016. They were married in Hawaii on June 29, 2021.

Max Holloway is the other recurring character. He was at the 2016 show in Honolulu, and he came strolling by on the beach in Maui in 2019, right after they got engaged.

Lynch's explanation for the initial hesitation was that Rollins had a reputation. He asked her to say it out loud. She did, eventually, and then delivered the detail that closed the case: he had told her, as a friend, that he was considering polygamy.

"That's like my big pickup line, guys," Rollins said.

His defense was a fairly honest description of a bad stretch. "You're just an idiot and you haven't met the right one." Once they actually started seeing each other, he was ring shopping within a month.

They now have a five and a half year old, a Bluey household, and a self-diagnosed parenting problem. Their daughter thinks Bandit is a mean dad, which Rollins and Lynch have concluded means they are being far too nice.

Lynch also had a guest hosting slot on Sirius Lithium at 3:30 Pacific and refused to leak the playlist, which did not stop the room from guessing Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam. Her current entrance theme, "New Lows," came from the Wonder Years after she texted singer Dan Campbell. He wrote back "hell yeah."

She was less charitable about the LeBron James news of the day. Asked if she had any feelings about James in Philadelphia, she offered two words. "Go on."

The best insight came from Rollins on watching her work. He gets nervous, she does not, and he tried to explain why. The women, he said, get a little looser in the ring, hair flying, and the size discrepancies are real. Then there is the fact that a woman who is genuinely terrified of heights climbed to the top of a double cage at WarGames and jumped.

"I'm terrified," Lynch confirmed. "I just do it."
