Seth Rollins’ Opening Line When Meeting WWE Superstar Becky Lynch Was…?

Every great love story has an opening line. Seth Rollins' was not great.

"I didn't interview you," he said, reconstructing the first time he met Becky Lynch. "I just said, hey, what's your deal?"

The desk immediately wanted to know whether that was, in fact, the pickup line. It was.

Rollins set the scene without much shame. It was pre-Raw, in an arena, and he was already in his Shield gear. "I saw her walking up and she's dressed real nice and looking real pretty," he said.

Lynch's memory of her own presentation that night is less flattering. "I was very orange," she said. "My hair was so orange, my fake tan was so orange."

Rollins agreed with the assessment and then added the qualifier. "But jacked."

"But I was pretty jacked," Lynch said.

"And beautiful," Rollins said. "I'm like, let's go see what this girl's all about."

So he walked over and delivered it. Hey, what's your deal? What's your story?

She had a story. She had roughly 45 minutes of story, by his count, and he did not mind a second of it. "She's a very engaging speaker, as you guys know," Rollins said. "So I was locked in right away. It was great."

Here is where the romance stalls out for a while. Rollins offered a caveat he clearly felt was necessary. "Full disclosure, I was not single at the time," he said. "So I wasn't trying to really make a move. I just wanted to just say hi."

Banter, the desk suggested. Rollins accepted the framing. "Yeah, just a little banter." Introducing yourself to a coworker, someone offered, and there is nothing wrong with that.

"There was nothing wrong with it and it never went anywhere and we were just friends," Rollins said. "But yeah, I mean, I was attracted."

Which set up the only question that mattered. Was Lynch attracted?

"No."

No hedge, no softening, no follow-up. Just a one-word demolition that briefly took the segment off the rails. As someone pointed out once the laughter died down, there was not even a follow-up. It was just no.

Lynch eventually explained the policy behind it, and it had less to do with Rollins than with self-preservation. "It was always like, don't get near the boys," she said. "I like chatting to him, but I was like, oh, don't fall for me."

The friendship ran a long time before it turned. "We were just friends for like four years before there was any romantic inklings," Rollins said.

Asked when she finally knew, Lynch put it at a couple of months once things did start. She also admitted she went in with her guard up. "I was always a little wary of you," she said. "He's a charming man, handsome man."

Rollins did not dispute the file on him. "I had a reputation," he said. "I was a bit of a flirt."

Then it flipped, and it flipped completely. "Once we started seeing each other, it was like, boom, over, done for me anyway," Rollins said.

The turn came around an autograph signing in Houston, with one of them flying in and floating the idea of doing it together. It was, in Rollins' words, off to the races from there.

Many years later, they are married with a five and a half year old.

Not bad for hey, what's your deal.
