Did WWE Superstar Becky Lynch Lie to Seth Rollins’ Dad about His Fake Injury???

A year later, the crutches still sting a little around here.

The show got played. Seth Rollins came in with a shattered knee, and everybody in the building treated it like the real thing. There were sympathy questions. There were questions about his mental health. Somebody walked the crutches over to him so he would not have to stand up.

None of it was true, and Becky Lynch knew it the whole time.

That was the setup when Lynch joined the show, and she did not pretend it sat easy with her. Lying to an audience is part of the job. Lying to people she actually likes is a different thing.

"I can lie if it's part of the thing," Lynch said. "I find it hard to lie to my friends."

The friends came for her fast. Rollins' father texted her almost immediately after the injury angle aired, asking what was going on with Colby, and Lynch had to decide in real time how deep the ruse was supposed to run.

"Do I tell his dad? I don't know how deep he wants to go with this," she said. "Is Aunt Arlene going to tell people?"

Rollins, for his part, admitted he handled his own family with all the grace of a man covering his tracks. He put his brother and his father on a group chat after the fact, told them the deal, and told them to shut up about it. Before the fact, he told nobody.

Then there was Bianca, who started texting Lynch in a panic. Lynch recounted the exchange with the timing of someone who has retold it a few times.

"She was like, 'Oh no, I think Seth just got hurt. I think Seth just got hurt. Do you want me to go check on him? I think he's in the trainer's room right now. Will I go?'" Lynch said. "And I was like, 'I'm sure he'll text me.' She's like, 'Wait, is this a work? Actually, I'm just going to stop texting you.'"

She got it. Most people did not.

Lynch was not a bystander in the operation either. She posted video of Rollins on the crutches, which she filed under lying to the general public and therefore permissible. Rollins called the whole stretch unreasonable.

"I went to unreasonable lengths, 100%," he said, "and she was there every step of the way. Supported me through thick and thin."

The best part of the story is the part where Lynch was not just complicit but essential. She was on the bus when the plan for the SummerSlam reveal got worked out, and she is the reason it landed.

The original pitch had Rollins coming out in his gear, on the logic that he was cashing in and would have to wrestle. Lynch shot it down cold.

"I was a staunch believer that you shouldn't be in your gear," she said.

Rollins backed her up on it. "The initial was, oh, you're coming out because you're cashing in, so you have to be in your gear because it's going to be a match. And she was like, absolutely not. If you're in your gear then they know. It's a dead giveaway. Don't do it."

He listened. He usually does. And the segment ended on the rule that appears to govern the entire operation, delivered straight to Lynch.

"Always listen to the man, Becky Lynch, and your life will be better for it. I know mine is."
