On this episode of ‘This Was SportsCenter’ Rich Eisen sits down with Chris Berman for an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look back at Boomer’s legendary career anchoring ‘SportsCenter’ and the role he played in shaping ESPN. From the network’s early years to present day, Berman reveals the origin story behind his famous nicknames, how the NFL Draft grew from its no-frills humble beginnings on TV to the spectacle that it has become, to what happened that time an actual skunk took up residence inside the ‘SportsCenter’ studio.
In this new podcast, Eisen takes fans behind the scenes of ESPN’s iconic ‘SportsCenter’ set and newsroom during the late 1990s and early 2000s, featuring firsthand stories and memories from many of the personalities who helped define the show’s impact by revisiting the moments, stories and personalities that helped transform ‘SportsCenter’ from a news and highlights franchise into a genre-defining cultural phenomenon.
