What’s More Likely: Rich Talks Rams, Broncos, Ravens, Cowboys, Chiefs, Browns & More

Chris came into What's More Likely with a lot, so he ripped through it. Rich answered, argued, and at one point refused to play along with the bit entirely.

The first question came straight out of Thursday night. Bijan Robinson and Drake London combined for 407 total yards against the Packers. More likely to be the higher number: those 407, or any three players' total yards in any game this week? Rich took the three players, even after checking the weather. There's rain forecast across the Northeast, with the Giants, the Jets, and Bills and Chargers in Western New York all looking at a washout. No rain in Pittsburgh or Cleveland, though. "I'm still going to take three over two."

Next, two teams at 1-1 that want to be AFC contenders. Who most needs a win Sunday, the Patriots or the Jaguars? Rich pointed out both are on the road in tough spots, Jacksonville in Cincinnati and New England in Buffalo. That set off a side debate about a vow, made two weeks ago on this very segment, to eat Del Tufo's hat if the Patriots started winning. "I'm a grown man. I'm done eating stuff," came the defense. "Word is not your bond," came the reply. Rich eventually took Jacksonville.

Then the big one. More likely Super Bowl 61 matchup: Rams vs. Broncos or Ravens vs. Cowboys? Rich went Rams-Broncos without hesitation. He'd toyed with it as his Super Bowl pick before the season preview show the Tuesday after Labor Day. "Rams Broncos are far more of a Super Bowl match-up possibility right now than Ravens Cowboys," he said. "All due respect, sir."

Chris flagged a sneaky fun game in Cleveland. More likely: Deshaun Watson gets cheered by Browns fans in the fourth quarter, or Bryce Young comes back down to earth? Rich took Bryce Young, then caught the catch. If Young comes back down to earth, there will be cheers in Cleveland, because the Browns would be potentially 2-1 with Todd Monken winning his first home game as head coach. "Winning changes everything." Still, he said, it'll take a lot for Browns fans to be cheering Deshaun specifically.

More likely 0-2 team you'll feel better about Monday: Texans or Chargers? Rich had a sneaky suspicion the Colts are winning, and that the Chargers will show their mettle whether or not they win. In the end he went Texans, largely because the Chargers draw "such a tough assignment in western New York."

Bigger total: Josh Allen's combined touchdowns, or Jameis Winston's touchdowns and interceptions combined? With almost two inches of rain forecast in New Jersey, Rich doubted Winston will throw it much. He took Allen, who is on a roll. That could make Sunday a job for the Giants' backfield, which the crew quickly rebranded as the law firm of Tracy, Singletary, Harris and Skattebo. "Better call Scat," came the reply.

It could be ugly in Miami, but the question was which dynamic running back in that game puts up more total yards and touchdowns, with Kenneth Walker on one side. Rich took Walker. The early question about him was whether his new team would really use him. "They sure as heck are." That set off one of the crew, who blamed Jeff Hafley for his fantasy football woes. Hafley, the story goes, promised on this show that his back would get 40 carries a game. "Next time he zooms in, me and him need to have a chat."

Lions and Jets: more likely Detroit scores 31 or gives up 31? Rich said score 31. The last time one of the Lions head coach's former assistants came into that building, Detroit dropped 50 on him. And the coach has had nothing but flowers for Aaron Glenn, calling him one of his best friends and saying a piece of him left when Glenn did. Still, Rich acknowledged Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson and Geno Smith have been flowing. His verdict: "The roar shall be restored on Sunday."

That led to a detour into one crew member's wavering Jets fandom. "I have my eye on them," he insisted. "You're supposed to have your heart in there, not just your eyes," came the response. There were contracts on the table to transfer to the Rams or Chargers.

More likely running back to match Bijan's 213 total yards and two touchdowns this week: Derrick Henry or Christian McCaffrey? Rich took Henry easily. The 49ers are wisely not bell-cowing McCaffrey in September. And Henry is headed to Brazil. "Derrick Henry is getting the ball in Rio and it is going to be de Janeiro for him."

The finale honored National One-Hit Wonder Day. Bigger Super Bowl one-hit wonder: Timmy Smith, Larry Brown or David Tyree? Rich initially couldn't figure out what the question was asking, which became its own bit. He eventually landed on Tyree, because nobody else ever pinned a football against his helmet at a crucial moment in Super Bowl history. "We've seen guys intercept passes. We've seen guys run football," he said. "We've never seen somebody pin a football against the helmet."

Chris wanted more enthusiasm. "It pisses me off when you know exactly what I'm doing, but you don't play along with the bit."

"I'm a bit extender and a bit man," Rich said.
