Tom Pelissero Reacts to a Nashville Super Bowl & the NFL Draft in Minneapolis

Two big league-meeting reveals on deck. The 2030 Super Bowl is heading to Nashville. The 2028 NFL Draft is heading to Minneapolis.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero gamely played host and color commentator on both as the show worked through Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport's reporting on the upcoming owners votes.

The Nashville Super Bowl is Super Bowl 64. Brockman caught the Roman numeral live.

"LXIV," Pelissero said. "That is right. Brockman in under the wire."

Pelissero has been to Nashville for the draft and called it the best draft location experience he can remember. The way they shut Broadway down. The stage at the end of the street near the river. The bachelorette parties that were probably less excited about the football bros showing up.

The Titans' new stadium opens next year. It is the reason Nashville gets the game.

"It will have a roof, be translucent, but protected from the elements," Pelissero said. "Because that's the only way you get a Super Bowl. It's the occasional ice storm that time of year in Nashville."

He vouched for it personally. Pelissero said he had a February trip to Nashville cancel because of an ice storm back in 2021. The only place he could reroute to was Fort Lauderdale.

"If you build it, they will come," Pelissero said.

He referenced the Minnesota Super Bowl as the cautionary tale. A foot of snow on Saturday wiped out the sponsor events. He was clear about the source of his caution.

"I am not rooting for that to happen in Nashville," Pelissero said. "I love the city of Nashville. I love the food. I love the people. I'm just saying there is a risk factor."

The 2014 New York Super Bowl came up as the precedent. First cold-weather Super Bowl. No roof.

"It was like 50-something degrees at kickoff," Pelissero said. "Next morning I opened the blinds, this is back in February of 2014, and it is sideways snow. Every flight is canceled. It was this close to being a disaster."

Then Minneapolis got pulled into the spotlight as the next NFL Draft host. 2027 is in Washington DC. Pelissero believes 2028 will be in the big lawn outside US Bank Stadium downtown.

He tried to make April sound stable.

"April, you're running a little risk, but I mean we went to Green Bay, we went to Detroit," Pelissero said. "Detroit was freezing. Green Bay poured rain and it was still a party. So the draft's a party. The Super Bowl will be a party."

The on-air AI summary of Minneapolis in April was not a great help to the cause. Sudden snowstorms and balmy 70-degree days, the system said, can both happen.

Pelissero, who lives there, made the closer.

"I turned my sprinklers on last week and I was like, it was the day after it was not below freezing anymore," Pelissero said.

"It's come up," Pelissero said. "I'll say this. I think I'll still be there for the 2028 draft."
