“Anything Is Possible” - Mac Jones the Likelihood of a Trade from the 49ers

Mac Jones came on the show from Tight End U, and the first order of business was the question he says he gets more than any other: is he getting traded out of San Francisco?

Jones did not bite, and he did not pretend the question was new. "I think I'm going to let the Reese's answer that one. I have no comment," he joked, before settling into something more genuine. He signed a two-year deal, not a one-year deal, and the security has clearly shaped his outlook. "Imagine if I stunk last year," he said. "It worked out. I'm getting paid. I got guaranteed money this year."

Pressed on whether John Lynch or Kyle Shanahan had ever floated a possibility to him, not asking for approval but simply flagging that a team had reached out, Jones stayed loyal to the building. "I love John. I love Kyle, the York family. It's the best organization I feel like that I've played for in terms of just top-to-bottom greatness," he said. "I don't like leaving good people, and I hope they enjoy having me there."

The interviewer tried a few angles. Do you want to get traded? "Anything's possible," Jones allowed, noting the trade deadline does not arrive until a little way into the season. But he kept steering back to a phrase that doubled as his whole philosophy. "I always say, be where your feet are, and my feet are in San Francisco, and I like it a lot."

He also made clear he is not in the dark about his own situation. The behind-the-scenes work, he explained, gets handled between agents at the combine and elsewhere, and the communication with the team has been clean. "I've been in the loop on everything. The communication is clear, and that's all I care about, to be honest." It was, as the host conceded, a good answer in and of itself.

Jones did admit there is real motivation underneath the contentment. He played decent football last year when called upon, but he thinks he can play a lot better, and he is spending the summer trying to improve his technique. The goal, in his telling, is to elevate himself toward a bigger deal down the line. Loyalty and ambition, sitting side by side.

The conversation then took a hard turn into pop culture. With Tight End U doubling as a gathering of couples, wives and girlfriends, the question came: is Jones invited to Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's wedding? "I didn't get the invite, but I heard it's going to be wild, so good for them," he laughed.

That sparked a small investigation. Was the bride-to-be actually at Tight End U? Chris Brockman reported from the desk that she had been spotted at the kickoff party the night before. Jones, to his credit, played innocent. "I don't know. I haven't seen."

The host pretended to wrap things up on the spot, joking that if the real party was elsewhere, there was no reason to keep Jones on the line. Jones laughed it off and talked up the event itself, crediting George Kittle for setting it up and looking forward to the country concert with sponsors that night. Trade rumors and wedding gossip aside, his feet, for now, are firmly in San Francisco.
