TJ Jefferson Just Ditched Penn State for a Pair of Oregon Air Jordans???

Closed mouths do not get fed. TJ opened his, and a box showed up from Eugene.

It started when Dan Lanning was on the program earlier in the week and TJ chimed in about shoes, floating the idea that Oregon Jordans are holy grail material and hard to get, then adding the important part out loud. "Coach, if you have any spare 13s." Lanning happens to wear a 13. So does TJ. The math worked.

The box that arrived had no Jumpman logo on it. No label either, nothing to indicate what was inside, which is exactly how the studio knew what it was looking at. You cannot get these at Foot Locker. You cannot buy them anywhere. Somebody compared the reveal to Pulp Fiction and half expected the thing to glow when it opened.

Inside was a pair of Ones. Ducks branding on the shoe, Oregon on the back, soles so clean that everyone in the room immediately felt guilty about the idea of dirt ever touching them. TJ's plan is to keep them in the studio for a while rather than risk the bottoms, though he insists they will get worn. "Whenever I have something to match," he said, promising a little green somewhere in the fit.

Then came the banner. Penn State off, Oregon on, a swap TJ had already been warned would cost him a slot. Who cares about the home state team, went the room. The Ducks were welcomed aboard on the spot, with a request that TJ say the words out loud. He said them. Go Ducks.

Nobody in the room was actually bitter about it, mostly because the shoes really are that good. "I'm not mad. I'm happy for TJ, cuz those are sick," went the reaction, before it landed on the actual grievance. Lanning wears a 13. Not everybody does. If only Dan Lanning had an 11 and a half sitting around.

The room did find one practical use for a pair of soles that bright. If the studio ever loses power again, somebody said, hold those up and follow TJ to freedom.
