This Penn State Alum is NOT Happy with TJ’s Newfound Oregon Ducks Fandom

The man who normally screens the calls came out from the back to make one himself.

Adam Chudwin usually sits on the other end of 844-204-RICH, fielding people who want to get something off their chest and writing down what they want to say. This time he had his own item, and it was aimed at one desk in particular. "I'm looking right at you, TJ Jefferson, for ditching Penn State," Chudwin said. "I'm a proud alum of Penn State University."

The charge is that TJ traded a lifetime of allegiance for footwear. "He just drops Penn State like a bad habit for a pair of Jordans. That is absurd," Chudwin said, before requesting that every person in Pennsylvania greet TJ with a chorus of shame the next time he goes home for Thanksgiving.

Chudwin also questioned whether any of TJ's fandom is real. If Caleb Williams ever signs with Jordan Brand and a Caleb edition of the Air Jordan 7 shows up, Chudwin volunteered to buy them himself just to watch TJ abandon the Cowboys and become a Bears fan on the spot. The aggravating factor, he argued, is that Oregon is not some random Pac-10 outfit anymore. The Ducks are a Big Ten team who beat Penn State last year, which makes the switch a betrayal with recent history attached.

TJ's defense had two parts and a warning. He never said he was giving up anything. The banner swap was the room's idea, and the coach set the parameters. He also pointed out that he never attended Penn State, which drew the obvious rebuttal that Altoona is about 45 minutes away and he has said he rooted for them his whole life.

Pressed on the hypothetical, whether he would pull for Oregon or Penn State if the two ever met, TJ called it a dumb question and then answered it anyway, mostly out of spite. He is rooting for Oregon. Anybody who does not like it gets two words, and one of them is it.

The room decided this was why No Contest Wrestling works, with TJ and O'Shea Jackson Jr. operating as two birds of a feather. "We just don't take no crap from nobody," TJ said. He does not bother anybody. He does need to be provoked. Chudwin provoked.

Rich, who prefers a friendly work environment and admitted he could feel the tension when the two passed each other in the hall, got the news that the friendly part is over. One of them is going to have to go.

There is a wrinkle. Chudwin, currently standing alone as the last Penn State fan in the building, happens to be a big Indiana and Bears fan himself, which raised the question of what his own loyalties do when they start pulling in different directions.
