This Fan Thinks One NFC West Team Will Go 17-0, but Is It the Rams?

Everybody in the NFC West undefeated conversation has been talking about the Rams. Gabriel in Washington called the show to nominate somebody else entirely.

Gabriel wanted to walk the Seahawks schedule, which is already a bold ask. He then went 17-0 with it, and he did it with a straight face and a joke for nearly every opponent.

The opener drew the first disagreement of the segment. Patriots at Seahawks on a Wednesday night, and the room was split on whether that is the right choice to kick off the season. Bears would have been better, went one argument. Rich liked it. Gabriel simply liked the outcome. "That will be a one-sided affair, my friend," he said, in Seattle's favor.

Arizona in week two, 11 days later, was a piece of cake. Washington was where he got a little dark. "I got a bad feeling for the Commanders fans. My heart goes out to them. I think RG3's happening again with Sam Darnold." Rich pushed back, saying he thinks Darnold bounces back, but conceded the broader point that Seattle has habitually gone to the East Coast and won the 1:00 window game everybody assumes will be tough for them.

The Chargers in week four were a win. The 49ers visit was where Gabriel started performing. "Those guys smell like Bengay."

Denver on a short week for Thursday Night Football on Amazon got the harshest treatment. "Denver has a tough schedule to start the season. They're going to be on life support. They're going to be desperate, and we're going to knock them out."

Kansas City on Sunday night: "Thanks for coming, canine. We wish you luck, but not tonight." Chicago on Monday night: "The Bears, the Iceman's going to melt." Arizona again at home: "That's cake." Las Vegas: a win.

The trip to San Francisco was the one he actually seemed to enjoy, mostly because of the collateral damage. Gabriel listed a brother-in-law, an uncle, a best friend and his neighbors as 49ers fans. "If you can't beat them, buy them. Win, Seahawks."

Dallas on a Monday night in Seattle got a "sorry, Jerry." The Giants got a win. Philadelphia in week 15 on a Saturday night got a Barnyard touchdown call and a win anyway.

Then Christmas night against the Rams, which is where Gabriel had to address the actual undefeated team in the conversation. His read on all of the Los Angeles additions, Myles Garrett and McDuffie and Watson included, was not flattering. "You know what that smells like? It smells like desperation, brother." Two-point win for Seattle.

Carolina was a win. The finale at SoFi Stadium was the perfect season.

"I'm doing what T.J. couldn't do yesterday. I'm going out on a limb," Gabriel said. "Mike Macdonald, coach of the year, going to be greatest season of all time. The respect is coming. Everyone is waking up to the Seahawks. 17 and 0."

Rich's response was not a fact check. It was a defense of the exercise itself. People get so mad when fans give their predictions, and this is supposed to be fun.

Then he found the actual reason to care. The Rams and Seahawks do not play each other until Christmas night on Fox, and two of their last three games are against each other. If both teams do what the undefeated crowd expects, that is 15-0 against 15-0 on Christmas.

"Could you imagine if that is in fact what happens?"
