This Diehard Rams Fan Caller Just EXPERTLY Trolled the 49ers

A caller named Travis in Singapore checked in on the Rich Eisen Show as a die-hard Rams fan with a single agenda. He had a five-movie watch list to suggest for the 49ers' international flight to Melbourne for the Week 1 opener.

It was a troll job, professionally constructed.

Number five on Travis's list was American Underdog, the Kurt Warner biopic.

"This is specifically for Brock Purdy to watch a quarterback from Iowa actually win a Super Bowl," Travis said.

Number four was Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

"In one of the many multiverses, there might actually be one where the Niners win a Super Bowl," Travis said. He added a small qualifier. "But probably not."

Number three was Be Kind Rewind, the Michel Gondry film in which Jack Black becomes magnetized after breaking into an electrical substation and erases the contents of every VHS tape at his local video store.

The connection, Travis explained, was specific.

"As a coincidence, a VHS tape is what you would watch a Niners Super Bowl win on."

The room landed. Rich nearly broke.

Number two was Friday Night Lights.

"Underdog team makes it all the way to the championship," Travis said. "Doesn't quite get all the way there."

The crowning pick was Dumb and Dumber. Travis was careful, in his framing, to clarify that the choice was not a comment on the 49ers organization's collective intelligence.

"It is, however, the number one movie in America in 1994," Travis said. "The last time they won the Super Bowl. So they might get a little bit of remembrance by watching Dumb and Dumber."

Rich took it well.

"Travis, my G," Rich said. The Rams fan, in Rich's read, had clearly been working on this list for some time and was reading it off a script he had committed to. The fact that Travis had also stayed up to call from Singapore added the credibility detail Rich appreciates most.

"The Rams feeling themselves clearly all the way from Singapore," Rich said.

The 49ers, of course, were not represented to defend themselves. They will get the chance in Melbourne in September.

Travis, presumably, has already scheduled his Week 1 watch party.
