The Rich Eisen Show's Viewers Have Some WILD Ideas about Which QBs the New York Giants Should Pursue

Rich has spent the day explaining why nobody is trading a quarterback to the Giants. The phone lines had other ideas, and they got progressively wilder.

The first was actually reasonable. Evan in Denver agreed a trade makes no sense right now and asked about calling up Jimmy G instead.

"I would do it," Rich said. "I have no idea why he doesn't play football now." Maybe he's done, maybe he isn't. Rich added that if he were the Rams, he never would have entered this season without a veteran who has done it before behind Matthew Stafford. Someone pointed out Jimmy G is only 34. Rich would kick the tires.

The only reason this is even a conversation, Rich said, is how poorly Jameis Winston played on Monday night. He expected one of those legend-of-Jameis games, where he starts winging it around and everyone talks about it the next day. Instead, "it was just a shocker."

Rich also saw the complication. Bringing in anybody could upset the apple cart in a locker room that has been told it is rallying around Jameis. The counterpoint from the crew was practical: the Giants need a backup anyway. If Jameis couldn't answer the bell on Monday night, it would have been Braxton Berrios. Somebody is coming in, so it might as well be somebody with experience.

Then came Chris in Rancho Cucamonga, who told the call screener he had a guy who "has not really gotten a shot in the NFL." That guy was Zach Wilson.

Rich could not let it go. "Did you really say Zach Wilson did not get a chance in the National Football League?" The caller's argument was that the Jets were the problem. Rich listed what Wilson had around him with the Jets, including Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson, Quinnen Williams and Sauce, before landing on this: "Let's just admit that the Jets is a kind of a dying zone for quarterback."

Wilson is currently on the Saints. The crew debated his spot there, and one member said you could get him for a seventh-round pick. The room allowed that Wilson is talented and has played a lot of games. But Rich had one condition if it ever happened.

"Could we afford to outfit every Giant fan in the New York metropolitan area's home with a GoPro? I would need to record the collective reaction," he said, to Wilson coming back to the stadium where he would be seeing ghosts. He figured everyone listening on the ESPN Radio affiliate in New York just fell off their chairs.

And then Wayne in Richmond, Virginia called in. First time caller, long time listener, coming out of the gate with this one. Wayne, not a Giants fan, thinks the Giants should save their picks and give Philip Rivers a call.

"He looked sharp when he came out of retirement last year," Wayne said. "Still got a lot of zip on the ball." And coach Harbaugh would coach him up.

The studio lost it. "Where have you been all our lives, Wayne?" Rich asked. Wayne, it turns out, drives a tractor trailer, and Rich sent his best on the diesel prices along with a sincere thank you. "My god, thank you for the content."

Rich and the crew then built out the full fantasy. Rivers leaves the high school pickup and drop-off line one more time and shows up for the team that drafted him. He tries his hardest, like he did last year, but struggles to put wins on the board. Which puts the franchise that traded him for Arch's uncle in a position to draft Arch Manning, to try and win championships for the franchise Uncle Eli brought two trophies to.

"Can't make it up," Rich said.

There were a few problems, the crew noted. Philip would have to want to do it, and he is coaching high school. And Jackson Dart's career is not over. But it would at least mean more use for the AI-generated avatar of Philip Rivers' tribal council with his family, created during last year's comeback, though the crew doubted it accurately depicted his real children.

So the show put out a poll. What should the Giants do: stick with Jameis, or go get Zach Wilson, Jimmy G or Philip Rivers? Someone suggested adding Uncle Rico.

"I love our listeners and viewers," Rich said. "They've got vivid imaginations to say the least."
