Overreaction Tuesday: Rich Talks Lamar, Hurts, Kyler, Tua, OBJ, Ohtani and More

Overreaction Tuesday is the show's recurring segment where Chris Brockman floats a hot take and TJ rules it an overreaction or lets it stand. Tuesday's edition ran the gauntlet of quarterbacks, receivers, NBA and a baseball superstar, with Rich jumping in to defend or torch each one.

Brockman opened with the boldest swing: either Lamar Jackson or Jalen Hurts will be on a new team by 2028. Rich shut it down fast. "That's positively ridiculous. That's not happening." His logic was simple. Quarterbacks do not usually start switching teams until their early-to-mid 30s, and Lamar Jackson would only be 31 by then. Brockman tried to sell career years from new offensive coordinators and rebuilt receiver rooms, name-checking Zay Flowers in Baltimore and DeVonta Smith in Philadelphia, but Rich called it an overreaction and moved on.

The next one flipped TJ entirely. Brockman predicted both Tua Tagovailoa and Kyler Murray make the playoffs this year, in their new homes. Rich refused to call it an overreaction. He argued Atlanta and Minnesota both have good teams, and that fresh starts with no draft-day baggage give both quarterbacks runways they are excited to have. He pointed to the supporting casts, Drake London and Bijan Robinson for one, Justin Jefferson for the other, plus former coaches of the year who are quarterback whisperers. TJ admitted he was ready to laugh, then changed his mind. "You flipped my thought on it." Rich's response: "That's what we do in this segment, TJ. We make you think."

Brockman's structural take, that three NFL divisions will have division winners with 10 or fewer wins, got branded an overreaction, with Rich teasing him as a "South slagger" for picking on both Souths.

OBJ got the warmest reception. Brockman said Odell Beckham will be the second-best Giants receiver this season behind Malik Nabers. Rich did not fight it. He likes Odell, and a healthy comeback for the G-Men would be, in his words, great. That one was not an overreaction.

Then the wheels came off for Brockman. He called the NBA Finals going seven games, "book it," even though he had previously said it would not. He claimed the Spurs should be up 3-0 on the Knicks, and Rich stuck firmly with Knicks in six.

The finale was the one Rich could not stand. Brockman argued Shohei Ohtani has lost his hitting and running superpowers, pointing to six home runs since April 13th on a pace far below his 50-50 season. Rich kept hammering the same counter. The Dodgers are in first place, and part of the reason is Ohtani pitching lights out. "Keep on tilting at this windmill, pal." Overreaction, and a fitting close.
