Is It a Bad Sign When Your Wife Laughs Hysterically at a Photo of You Golfing? Asking for Rich

The American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe celebrated the NFL schedule release with an Instagram post of past celebrity golfers. AJ Hawk. Ryan Fitzpatrick. Patrick Peterson. Baker Mayfield.

And Rich.

Rich was ready to defend his entry, because the rest of the studio was not letting it go.

"Look at this dart thrower," Rich said. "I saw that yesterday. What are you laughing about? What's so funny about that?"

The photo, in Rich's telling, captured a moment of triumph.

"It's like you hit a good shot," Rich said. "It looks like I hit a good shot. It's cuz I hit a good shot. I'm staring it down. That's a dart throw."

The cast had a different read. Someone suggested the photo looked like a man stuck behind two trees in the fairway trying to thread the needle.

"That doesn't look like I've got a driver in my hand, if that's what you're asking," Rich said.

The recurring punchline of the segment came from Rich's wife.

"It's a great shot, honey," Rich said, doing the voice. "That's all that needed to be said. It's a great shot, honey."

The cast asked whether Rich would allow the photo to be blown up and hung in the house.

"No," Rich said. "Why? I'm staring it down. Look at me. It is awful."

Asked specifically about the foyer of his home, Rich was firm.

"Are you out of your mind?" Rich said.

The conversation drifted to the accessory on Rich's belt in the picture, which the cast could not identify. A badge, maybe.

"It's the badge that you wear when you're a player so you can go wherever you want," Rich said.

That spun into a whole new bit. New sheriff in town. Rich running people down.

By the end, the studio had a plan, and it was not the one Rich wanted.

"We're going to get that blown up for you and framed," the cast told him. "And we're going to put it down here."

The verdict on whether a wife laughing hysterically at your golf photo is a bad sign was never formally rendered. The wife, for the record, could not stop giggling.
