Do All Chiefs Fans Want to Fire Andy Reid Like This Rich Eisen Show Caller Does???

Amy called in to vent about the Chiefs, was handed the floor, and used every inch of it.

Her opening position did not ease anyone into anything.

"Even after Super Bowl 54, Andy Reid and Steve Spagnuolo, they need to go."

The room reacted the way you would expect, and Amy kept going. Her argument is that Reid checked out three or four years ago and is simply not there anymore, and that Kansas City needs somebody young and fresh.

She is also done hearing about Travis Kelce's age, and offered a comparison that gets the point across.

"I'm older than Andy Reid, and yet I still swear I could stand next to him and I think he's my grandpa."

The most memorable stretch involved a Raiders fan. He told Amy he did not like Reid because Reid is a numbers guy who wants to set records and does not care about the players. Amy was, in her words, shocked and appalled to hear a Raiders fan say something brilliant, because she agrees with him.

That theory has a specific application. She believes Reid will run Kenneth Walker into a defensive line until he gets hurt, the way she says he did with Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and that Isaiah Pacheco just lasted a little longer before getting injured.

Spagnuolo got it too, and Amy's complaint there is more about body language than scheme. She wants the cameras on him when the defense does something boneheaded, rather than watching him hold that enthusiastic hands on knees stance.

"You need to teach your defense how to play," she said. "Why can't they just kind of push the ball out of a receiver's hand? I could coach that defense better than Spags. I could."

The show let her finish, thanked her, and then gently noted the obvious.

That was a vent. It is also what the show is for, a service provided, though somebody did suggest that axe throwing might help too, since Amy clearly has an axe to grind.

Then came the pushback, and it was kind rather than dismissive.

Andy Reid is a very good Hall of Fame coach and still is one. The rant would have been devastating if Denver had won 31-7. Denver did not.

The broader context cuts against the panic. This is a team coming off a long run of success, and last season was the first one where they were not really in it. They won in Week 1. They finally have a running game. And Patrick Mahomes is coming back from an injury, which means the last thing anyone should want is to press him, rush him, and watch him aggravate it.

He played fine. He will get more comfortable as the season goes on and as he gets used to being hit again, mentally as much as physically.

"It's not as bad as it seems right now, Amy, and you're going to be okay," the show told her. "And the Chiefs are going to be okay."
