Comedian Michael Blaustein: What Will Happen in NYC If the Knicks Win a Title

Comedian Michael Blaustein has not changed his underwear since April 23rd, and he wants you to know he is not embarrassed about it.

Blaustein, a diehard Knicks fan and co-host of the Stiff Socks Podcast, joined Rich on The Rich Eisen Show to talk about what it feels like to live through a legitimate Knicks playoff run. He showed up in a Knicks shirt under a Knicks jacket, a look he framed as "coming in easy." Rich was not fooled.

"This is the best time of my life," Blaustein said. The April 23rd date is not arbitrary. That was the night of the first round of the NFL Draft, and more importantly, the last time the Knicks lost. Blaustein has not swapped out the underwear since. His girlfriend, he noted, has moved out. The commitment stands.

The Knicks fandom runs through his father, who is from Brooklyn. Blaustein grew up in Maryland, which means he fielded plenty of questions about why he wasn't a Bullets fan, or a Wizards fan. His answer: there was a John Starks poster on his bedroom wall before he even knew what color was. "I remember just staring at the dude even before I knew who the dude was," he said. "And I came online and I was like, that's my DNA."

He was at MSG for Eastern Conference Finals game two against the Cavs, seated behind one of the baskets. It was his first time with thunder sticks. He took full credit for the Cavaliers missing free throws. Rich mentioned that he didn't think Madison Square Garden did the thunder sticks because the city prefers homemade noise. "And a gun," Blaustein deadpanned, then immediately tried to walk it back. Rich kept moving.

The conversation turned to what happens if the Knicks actually win it all. Rich brought up Karl Anthony Towns saying he felt for the NYPD if a championship celebration broke out. Blaustein had a theory. "Guys, do you understand if the Knicks win, they're going to invade New Jersey?" He was not joking. He predicted New York would simply expand geographically, annexing Cherry Hill and possibly extending into the ocean. "They're going with drones," he said.

Rich, for his part, did not disagree.
