Attention Patrick Mahomes: Henry Winkler’s Chicken Dinner Invite Still Stands

Henry Winkler has a standing dinner invitation out for Patrick Mahomes, and he wants the quarterback to know it's still good.

Winkler credited a previous visit to the show for letting him meet Mahomes in the first place, but the man has never come over for dinner. There's a logistical reason, Rich noted: last year's Chargers home game against the Chiefs was played in Brazil, so Mahomes never made it to Los Angeles.

The menu is locked in. Chicken with a reduction sauce, mashed potatoes, and a vegetable, and Winkler insists it's still available. Aware that Mahomes is rehabbing a knee, Winkler offered to throw in some ice and pack the knee himself, and floated chicken soup, the Jewish penicillin, before allowing the injury is probably beyond soup's powers. He only wishes Mahomes well, marveling that anyone could play that hard while that hurt, when he himself would just fall to the turf and cry.

Rich pulled up the schedule to make the case. The Chiefs visit the Chargers around the top of January in week 17, and they're at the Rams in week 13 in early December, two trips to Los Angeles. "I will be here," Winkler said, vowing to make himself available no matter what it takes.

Winkler's only regret is that he's never met Travis Kelce, though Kelce did send him a "faith, football, and Fonzie" football-family t-shirt. Rich assured him nobody is out of his reach, which is hard to argue with for a man whose only ask is to cook chicken for a Super Bowl champion he clearly adores.
