Cooper Kupp's old team just got scarier, and the headline out of his visit to the show was that he has already shut down the NFL's most tantalizing what-if.
First, the news. Myles Garrett is a Los Angeles Ram, and Kupp took it in stride. The Rams are a really good football team that made big moves this offseason, he said, but in the NFL every opponent shows up wanting to beat you regardless of trades or reputations. Whatever target comes with the territory, he is not sweating it.
Then came the fun part. Rich raised the swirling idea that Aaron Donald, watching Garrett land in Los Angeles, might be tempted to unretire and run it back alongside him.
Kupp had already handled it.
"I texted him and told him that he's not allowed," Kupp said. "I already nipped it in the bud. No one has to worry. It's all set."
Asked whether that meant the Avengers would not be uniting after all, Kupp left a sliver of doubt, but only a sliver. He loves Aaron Donald, he said, and loved taking the field with him in Los Angeles. He knows that Aaron Donald is Aaron Donald, regardless of age or time away from the game. A reunion would be crazy in the best way.
But the verdict held. It does not matter what anyone thinks could happen, Kupp insisted, because he already told Donald he cannot.
Rich made it official with a laugh. Breaking news out of Seattle: Cooper Kupp has nipped it in the bud, and the comeback is over before it began.
